Effects of child beauty pageants
Hi all,
Was just wondering your opinions on child beauty pageants? I would be especially interested to hear from those who have put there children in pageants.
Do you think they build self esteem? or the opposite? Would be interested to hear any thoughts you have on them!

Re: Effects of child beauty pageants
i was put into them as a child. and although i'm not a fan of Honey Boo Boo, i think if you stay grounded and you keep your kid grounded, the whole experience can be an amazing one. people are so gung-ho about 'i want that crown, trophy, MONEY' that when they lose, they never actually learn to lose gracefully. and the moms make it much much worse.

i loved being able to dress up and have my hair done. and if i won, i won, if i didn't, yes i was upset that i didn't get a crown, but i learned to be happy for those that did win. if i had a daughter would i do it to her? most likely not. its a great program to save money for college and can build confidence, but i think the parents have turned it into this out-for-blood competition.
