Yes I have had one done, in general they use it to "test" and see if you will go into labor in the next week or so. If it is negative there is a chance you will, if it is positive then they feel you wont.
I had it done 2 times while in the hospital on bedrest, the first was negative which according to them meant going within 7days, but the second was positive and I had the twins three days later. (of course it has been almost 2yrs, I might have it flip flopped) but I would us the results as a tentative thing, because they are not very reliable.

Fetal fibronectin (fFn) tests are only useful if they have a negative value, or a negative result. If it comes back negative, you have a 90% chance of carrying the pregnancy for about 10-14 more days. If the test comes back positive, you may go into labor, or you may not. The test is only valid for about 10 days, so your doctor has to retake the test to check for changes, regardless of the result.

Let's hope for a negative; that way you can be a bit more reassured. Good luck! Hope this helps!
