I'm a little unsure where I should start Eathan. I'm not sure if I should just go ahead and do the Get Ready, Get Set, Go or if I should start with Book 1. I need some insight. He knows all of his letter sounds by sight and sound. He knows them well. He can start to put words together like cat, sat, ran, you get the idea. He has no idea when it comes to blends. I just wasn't sure where the books started for Book 1 and so on. What do you think? I don't mind reviewing the letters and such with him, but he doesn't need to be taught them over and over, kwim?

Oh, I did forget to mention that he only knows short vowel sounds and not the long vowel sounds. I don't know if that makes a difference in anything.

Book 1, possibly book 2. Ready, Set, and Go cover the consonant letter sounds only. Book 1 starts with short a and CVC short a words. That may be just review for him, but that could be a good thing. I would definitely skip ready, set, and go, though.

Yeah, I would probably go with book 1.

One thing you might want to think about is if he can print his letters as well as recognize them. Toby knows all the letters and can read short words with short vowel sounds but he can't print many letters correctly. So I am using the Ready, Set, Go books with him so that he learns to write them as well, even though the exercises are easy for him otherwise. He enjoys it anyways.
