Getting close to a large family
#3 is on the way! I'm still hoping for four kiddos though we'll see how I feel after we've adjusted to three kids. A nursing question, if that's okay. My first was breast & bottle, second exclusively breast. intend to nurse all my babies but after doing the exclusive nursing thing, anymore are also going to get a bottle. Thankfully no supply problems, if anything there's an oversupply. How feasible is it truly to nurse a newborn when your chasing a toddler and taking your oldest to school? My girls will turn two and five right after the baby is born. We were pleasantly shocked to become pregnant right away when not really trying/not preventing after our youngest turned one and with a sticky baby, not how it typically goes for us. Not quite two years seems like so close in age!

Shouldn't be a problem. My #7 is a super efficient eater, like 10 minutes, then he is awake for 30-45 minutes just looking around and then eats again on the other side and takes a nap.

Re: Getting close to a large family
My middles are 19 months apart (#2 & #3), 21 months apart (#3 & #4) and just shy (by 2 weeks) of 2 years (#4 & #5). (The oldest is 5 yrs older than #2 and the baby is 26 months younger.)

I breast fed 2 thru 6 and always had at least one child in school during it. #5 and #6 never took a bottle and were attach to the boob 24/7. All I can say is thank goodness for babywearing. It literally got me through the first year of their lives.

I think you will fall into your own rountine. Its very managable though. I have been known to pull over and actually nurse or bottle feed baby then continue on. Although not happening very often and rare. One thing I do is make sure baby eats and change of diapers before I will the leave the house. Im sure you will learn how to make it work for you.

Re: Getting close to a large family
I never mind feeding in public. The most common places I go are school and shopping at walmart. At school chances are more than 50% of the people there are familiar with breastfeeding, and it doesn't phase them, and of course at walmart ANYTHING goes! LOL

Re: Getting close to a large family
Except for the oldest I always start out breastfeeding, some I continued and others I didn't. Sometimes it just wasn't feasible for me, and I always gave myself the okay to quit if I wanted/needed to. I know plenty of people who breastfed with multiple children. I just wasn't very good sometimes trying to juggle it all.

Right now I have a homeschooled 5yo,a an almost 4yo, a 17 month old, and an EBF 3 montyh old,it works for us but it may not for everyone. I'm sure you'll find the balance that works for you :)

Re: Getting close to a large family
I have breastfed all mine for varying lengths of time. And my 2nd and 3rd were only 15 months apart. My 3rd was breastfed for about 9 months, and we never had any trouble with the 2nd adjusting. My 4th will be 20 months when I have this one, and I intend to breastfeed. I don't anticipate any problems this time, either. And like others, I nurse pretty much anywhere - grocery store, mall, doctor's office, etc. I always carry a blanket with me. And I have had to pull over the car and nurse and then go back to driving. My girls are all used to it!
