How long were your girls in their helmets for and at what age did they start? How long did it take to notice a difference? Did the helmets seem to bother them at all through the day and especially at night? My boys sleep straight through from 8pm-6am and don't want the helmet to interfere with that. They get theirs on 12/11 and will be 5 months at that time. Ty is the worse and will be in his for no more than 5 months and TJ actually doesn't need one, but he has some flat spots so we are doing his since Ty needs one and we don't want TJ coming back to us later in life wondering why he doesn't have a perfect head. Also, they both were approved through ins so we might as well do both. Our copay is only $250 each so I'm glad they are covering it. I would appreciate any advice or input. I'm kinda nervous about it.

Re: Celry
How old are they? They will do scans on them and then give them a rating. Different ins companies cover at certain levels. Mine covers anything at a 6 or higher.

Re: Celry
They have been three times. We first went to the pedi head rehab specialist who gave us some exercises and told us to position their heads to the right at night, that was at 3 months old. Then she sent us to an orthotics place a month later to have their heads scanned to get measurements, then we went straight to her office to go over the results. She said to scan again in one month and go from there. She doesn't like to put helmets on infants until they are 5 months old. At their 4 month appt she went ahead and sent in their stuff to get approvals. We could wait a few months to see if they would improve, but she is doubtful and I want it done this year otherwise if we wait until next year we will have a whole new deductible and we've already met it this year. The scan only takes a few secs, just depends if the baby is still. If they move around alot they have to keep taking it.

Re: Celry
It's called Dynamic Orthotics, but I saw a sign inside the place that said Hangar Dynamic Orthotics.

Do they both have Plagiocephaly?

Re: Celry
I'm on an iPod, so this will be short. Arya was in her helmet for 3 months but wore it at night for 2 more months just because it still fit,she liked it and asked for it when Riley had hers on. Eiley wore hers for 5 months. They both started at 9months. We would have started earlier if their pedi hadn't kept saying they were fine.

We are on the hanger site. I loved the people we dealt with at hanger. We went to the doc band place too but were not impressed at all with the office in our area.

Getting them in a helmet between 4 and 6 months is ideal. Both loved their helmets and had no issues sleeping in them. You gradually have them wear the helmets more time each day. They won't sleep in themright away.
