When to start buying supplies?
I'm only a little over 10 weeks with IVF twins. I have carseats picked out, a double snap and go stroller, and I'd like to start looking at swings. I'm so excited and ready to buy things. The big ticket items we will be buying ourselves, so we can pick colors and styles we like. I'm going to leave outfits and other baby stuff for family when we find out genders, etc.

How soon is too soon to buy essentials?

Re: When to start buying supplies?
I'm a planner, so don't think any time is too soon. I bought stuff early especially when I could find a good deal. I do know some people like to wait until after their anatomy ultrasound to make sure things are okay, but the same could go for a single baby.

Re: When to start buying supplies?
First off, congrats and welcome!

I started pretty early with the little stuff (diapers, wipes, burp cloths, etc.) and started to stockpile...especially when things were on sale and/or I had coupons. For the bigger stuff I wanted to wait until later and until after we had the anatomy scan, but that sort of backfired on me. I was put on modified bedrest at 17 weeks and complete bedrest at 25 weeks, so most of my shopping was done from a laptop on the couch :(

Most twin Mamas will tell you that it is better to do it sooner...after 25-ish weeks you will really slow down and it is exhausting just doing regular stuff, much less putting together furniture, painting, shopping, etc. For me it was easier to relax and be calm knowing that I had everything I *needed* when the babies arrived.

Re: When to start buying supplies?
Yeah, I think there is definitely a balance. I don't think we really started getting anything until 20-25 weeks, but I can't remember for sure. We definitely started looking before that and had ideas of what we wanted. The swings we may have picked up sooner, because they came from consignment sales .... I think do whatever makes you comfortable. If you want to start shopping, but aren't sure, then you could always buy things but keep the receipts for now (though returning them if you had to would be too hard on me I think ....)

Re: When to start buying supplies?
I think waiting until 16-20 weeks is best personally. I picked up a few little things but I was too afraid myself to shop too soon.
