Noah's unplanned natural birth
I had it all planned out - i was going to take a bath, watch tv, go for a walk and generally relax at home as long as possible. i was going to hold of going to the hospital as long as possible, only go in when i could no longer cope and needed an epidural. well that didn't happen!

I had no idea there were still places that handed moms gas and left them to it. Is that a common option in Ireland? Glad that pain management was available to you since you missed the epi. Natural can be really hard if you've not been planning for it. Glad there was another option for you.

Re: Noah's unplanned natural birth
oh from what i've seen i was very lucky to even get that! the maternity care in Ireland is barbaric! if im ever to have another baby i will be going back to England for the whole thing!
Having said that i think it would be easier next time as i will know what the active labor pains are and what they mean so i will be able to be more assertive and demand to be checked alot sooner.

Re: Noah's unplanned natural birth
Your all going to think im mad but im actually planning a home birth for baby number 2 - with retrospect i realize it wasn't the fact that i couldn't get the drugs that was the problem, it was the way the nurses and midwives treated me. If i can stay calm, relaxed and in control in my own safe environment im hoping to have a much calmer happier experience :)
