Questions about FAM
Hi! :)

I watch my cycles fairly closely without temping, and am considering starting to BBT chart, but have a few questions about pros/cons from personal experiences:

1) My cycles seem to have different symptoms each month, I cannot figure out if it is because I am getting older or if I should worry about irregularity? Would BBT charting help me solve this problem?

2) I have a point-and-click thermometer that goes into your ear, can I use this kind or does it have to be taken from under the tongue?

3) From those of you who have practiced this, have you decided to temp or just watch your symptoms? Which had the greatest benefit, in your opinion?

Re: Questions about FAM
1) I'm not sure exactly what symptoms/irregularity you might be experiencing, so it is hard to say whether adding temps would clarify things for you. The nice thing about temps are that the thermal shift is a positive indication that ovulation has occurred. Sometimes it is possible for a mucus patch to come and go with or without ovulation. The temperature is just another piece of information for you to use to evaluate that cycle.

2) It is strongly recommended that you have a basal thermometer specifically for this purpose, not a fever thermometer.

3) I have personally always used STM (sympto-thermal method) which uses both the temperatures and mucus pattern (and cervix position/quality) in a cross checking way. I personally feel that having as much information as possible helps. :)

Do you have any kind of book or anything to help you learn?
