Since we have some new gals to scrapbooking..what is the best advice you can give to someone just starting out?

I would say start with your pictures. See what you would like to scrapbook. Then if you need ideas for layouts look online or in magazines. When you get your layout done then decide what papers to use and colors. Stick with basic stuff to start. Make a list of everything you will need. When I started I just did paper and stickers and some stamps. I also think that finding a club or a couple of other ladies to work with is a great idea. Check out a local store or something like close to my heart of stampin up they do clubs or party's that you can learn from them. Hobby Lobby and Michaels I think even hold classes. Don't be afraid to ask someone for help.

List this is stuff you will need to start
markers for journaling

Hope this helps!

trust your instincts and follow your gut! if your not comfortable doing a technique that is all the rage dont do it it will frustrate you and you wont be happy with the end product. your scarpping is about you not everyone else. scrap for yourself not for others! with that said it is nice to show off your work and get compliments!

Don't go overboard buying paper at first. It can take a while to figure out what you like to do/use best.

Once in a while I do a page and at the end of it, I am really not "feeling it" but in the end I just remind myself ANYTHING is better than just looking at pictures in a regular picture album

Don't get frustrated if your pages don't come out the way that everyone else's done. everyone has a different style and level. also, if the photo is one you really cherish make sure you have a duplicate copy so that if you miscut or don't like it, then you have lost the pic.
