Losing weight
For the past few days my appetite is gone. I have been trying to eat things (fruits and veggies mostly) but I just never actually get the hunger pangs. Of course, that means I am 24 weeks and back to pre-pregnancy weight. I know the best I can do is eat, but I don't remember this with Marsi's pregnancy. Thankfully my midwife has been really good about my weight. She has never said I wasn't gaining enough or losing too much weight. I have gained 5 lbs from my lowest measurement at the midwife. Of course, my face is looking skinnier, because the baby and all the other pregnancy stuff has to weigh something. Just one more thing to worry about. Luckily he is a good mover and shaker so I don't have to worry about him being alive. Just the worry of him being healthy.

Re: Losing weight
I'm sure he is fine. he will take what he needs from you so it is the mom that suffers when you don't get the nutrients that you need. although I doubt that it is anything to worry about. I know several women who have not gained that much weight and their babies are just fine. Just make sure that you are getting plenty of water to drink and I wouldn't worry about it until your midwife says to worry which i doubt she will do.

Re: Losing weight
What about drinking milkshakes or smoothies in place of some of the water or fluids you drink? Maybe that would make it easier to take in some extra calories.

Re: Losing weight
Yeah, I agree with Joy. Just to make sure you're taking in a minimal amount of nutrients... I'd do a smoothie for breakfast and a protein shake for lunch. Just sip through the am and afternoon!

And don't forget to take your iron, LOL. Blah I hate iron! But my midwife is on me about it.

Anyhow I hope it doesn't become a major concern..... Hopefully you figure out a way to get more calories without feeling sick!

Re: Losing weight
I'm sure he's doing just fine! Drinking calories/nutrients is a good idea though. Lots easier to do when you don't feel like eating. I drank a lot of smoothies early on when I wasn't hungry.

Thanks. I could live off of Jamba Juice. I need to learn to make my own....and get a good blender :P

Re: Losing weight
I'm sure it's all good, the big gain is usually the 3rd trimester. I lost 2 pounds from when I went to the ER last weekend until I had my appointment this week. And my face is thinner (not much), but my tummy is much bigger (or sure seems like it). But doctor said baby was measuring right on. I've gained a total now of 6 pounds from when I got pregnant and the doctor said that was good.
It's hard to feel like eating sometimes when your stomach is getting squished (or for me when I'm stressed about something).

Yeah, I am the same weight that I was at my intake appointment.

Re: Losing weight
Maybe I'm gaining all the weight for you :)

I'd also read the advice to drink your calories. So if you're not hungry, focus on drinking veggie juices and smoothies. And sometimes and yummy milkshake!
