Pregnancy at 40/41?
Hi I'm currently 24+ weeks pregnant with a little boy. So far this pregnancy is going surprisingly well. Baby has passed all tests with flying colors. I do have placenta previa (complete) but hoping that will resolve before delivery. Just wondering if anyone else is going through or has been through a pregnancy at this age. Should I expect things to get crazy towards the end due to be over 40. I will be 41 next month.

Thanks for any replies.

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?
Im 42 and had my last 3 at 39, 40, and 41. Im due with number 8 before my 43rd birthday. Only thing I can say that was different in my 40's, is the fatigue...your body just does not respond like it did in your 20's, lol. Other than that, a little extra monitoring (weekly nst's at 32wk for me and a couple extra growth scans to look for placenta issues due to age.). Good luck!!

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?
Thanks for the response. I have noticed I am starting to get more tired. The first 20 weeks I noticed no change and was working FT. I quit till this fall and I seem more tired than before.

Good luck with your pregnancy:)

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?
I'm 28 weeks and age 43. I also have a 4 yr old, 8, 14 and 20 yr old. What's different for me now is that I have problems I didn't have 20 years ago with reflux, swallowing issues, etc.. BUT- I am much wiser and a better mom and I eat SO much better than I did with my first two pregnancies. Other than that, probably not a lot different other than the social stigma that comes with being older and pregnant.

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?

I had my son when I was 40. He is perfectly healthy at happy now at 7 years old. I can't speak to pregnancy being harder or more difficult at 40 than 20 because I didn't have kids in my 20's. Had my 1st at 36. But with both pregnancies, I worked full-time right up to my deliveries (went 3 1/2 weeks early).

I was pregnant at 38 and had it. It was no big deal. Drs werent too concerned because they said it wasnt too bad. They just montior you more...may need a few more ultrasounds.

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?
I became pregnant at 40 and had my daughter at 41. Difference for me was being more tired and gestational diabetes, both of which pretty much resolved when she was born. Just have to remember what you will have in the end. Congrats!!!!

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?
I'm 40. I'll be 41 November 18th. Right now, I'm freaking out. I just got the positive test, but I knew I was all along. I just needed to see it with my own eyes. Funny thing, I knew I was pregnant the day after my husband and I got a little crazy and "careless". That mommy instinct is a powerful thing.
I have 3 children, 17, almost 16 & a 5 year old who will be 6, 11/14.
I haven't told anyone. You all are the first. I'm trying to figure out how to tell the hubby. I don't want him to faint. Lol!! :o

Re: Pregnancy at 40/41?
I had my last child at 40 and it was my easiest pregnancy. Delivery was no harder. I have a home birthing mw so I had no extra tests or anything.
