The best advice
What is the #1 best piece of pumping advice you're received?

It's hard to pick my favorite, but maybe that you don't need to wash parts after every pump session. Keeping the parts in a Ziploc in the refrigerator and washing once a day really saved my sanity.

Re: The best advice
Really??? Why is that? So if I out my parts in the fridge I don't need to wash them? This would be a huge time saver.

Yeah...if you think about it, refrigerated breast milk is good for several days, so any droplets on the pump parts are ok if refrigerated. Some people do a quick rinse and then refrigerate, and others just refrigerate without rinsing. Then at the end of the day (or once a day, whenever you get a chance), you can wash. It's definitely a time and sanity saver, especially when you also have bottles and such to wash.

Re: The best advice
Thanks for the advice! I'll have to find a discreet bag to place them in so I can refrigerate at work :)

Yep, i second that. Really good advice! :)
Also, someone once told me to bring something baby has worn because his/her smell can help you letdown. I thought that was thoughtful advice too.

Re: The best advice
I love that piece of no-washing advice and have used it since I came back to work. I have an insulated lunch bag that I use to keep all my stuff and milk in in the fridge, so it's discreet.

The advice that I read and am trying to stick with is pump as often as you can. I try to get in 4 sessions if I can- which is rare. I always do 3 though as I NEED to to get enough to cover the day. I figure the more I ask the boobs to produce, the more likely it is they will keep things rocking and rolling. I'm VERY lucky to have an office with a door so I just keep my pump on my desk and can shut the door, hook up, and keep working. Like right now! (Well, minus the working part, but I'm on my computer here in the office.) It makes all that time pumping work. If I had to traipse somewhere with my pump in tow, there is no way I'd pump as often.
