I wonder if anyone has seen what is happening in Alberta on the news?

Calgary and area is being effected by severe flash flooding, over 100,000 people evacuated and it's a state of emergency. The entire downtown is under water and 4 people dead so far. If you are a hockey fan, the saddeldome is full up to row 14.

They have never seen anything like this. It's scary and so sad! I am an hour from the flooding so we are fine of course, but now all of the downstream towns and cities are being hit. The army is here now. A lot of the major highways are closed because bridges are out and faults from all of the rainfall has formed.

My friend sent e these photos yesterday. He was trapped in his apartment with the water still rising but most people have been taken out by boat now. These are about 10+ blocks from the river

Re: Alberta
Holy smokes...

We have a couple girls from previous ddcs who are in the area, so we're getting updates from them and praying hard for all those affected. How awful!

Re: Alberta
I used to live there... It's crazy.

The rivers in Calgary aren't the only ones cresting, Canmore, Banff, Skookumchuck, BC, Elko BC and Wasa Lake, BC have all seen bad flooding too.

ALL of my family is from these areas, so I've been watching the news reports closely.

Re: Alberta
Two of my PR friends are in the High River area, so I've been seeing FB updates. One of them had to be evacuated and her family is staying with her parents. The other has seen no damage, thank goodness. It's so awful!
