Was just wondering if anybody just waited to deliver after they got the news? Sometimes I wish I would have, and then other times I know I couldn't go on for weeks knowing that my baby had died. I was told that it could take up to 4 weeks to deliver natural. If you did wait, how long did you actually wait?

i was induced i cant remember bein given a chioce to be honest....i do remember them saying that it could take 2 weeks to go into labor...like u dont think i could have carried her for that long knowing she had passed....x

I wasn't induced, but my situation was different. Ceilidh had anencephaly so I knew from 17 weeks that she would pass before or shortly after birth. That is the reason my consultant didn't want to induce me, he knew how much it meant to me knowing I was keeping her alive and he didn't want to be the one to take that away from me.

I was not induced. Hope's death was confirmed on a Thursday (she probably passed on Wednesday) and I went into labor that Saturday. So I only had to wait a few days. It was hard but we felt it was best. There was no way I was willing to risk complications with an induction and we had planned a home delivery from the beginning of my pregnancy.

I was induced.

I had to have a C-section. It was my second and they didn't want to risk a VBAC plus I had Pre-E and was in SEVERE pain.

Ditto to all in bold...it was emergency c-section for me and he had passed 2.5 minutes before he was out of me.

Well, I was trying for a VBAC. I went in for my u/s, there was no heartbeat. He check my cervix. Also, DS wasw transverse and high. I didn't want to risk an induction or External version because of uterine rupture. I had a c/s approx 6 hours after I found out.

Seems like we all got induced, or c-section. I thought it was weird that I was given the choice to wait. I only thought about it for an hour or two and then called in and said I would be at the hospital soon.

I guess IM the different one here. Gracie wasn't really stillborn, she lived for 10 min. I went into preterm labor and they couldn't stop it. I had a bad infection.

I actually didn't know that Keelie had passed and went into pre-term on my own. I delivered her half way at home and I think that I may have gotten to hold her alive for a few minutes if the ambulance would have done things differently, but that's a whole other story...

I was given the option of induction or waiting it out. There was no way I could wait for labour knowing that my baby was dead. We went for the induction and our son was a stillborn VBAC.

lunarmagic March 19th, 2008 08:39 PM

I was given the option.... I knew I could not have continued knowing he was dead inside me, so I opted for an induction. And also after the fact I learned that their bodies start to break down while in the womb.... he had been passed for a few days so he was already not "perfect" when I delivered him..... waiting would not have helped and I'm glad I got to see him how he was, how he should have been.

I wasn't really given the option... I could have requested it as my doctor said I was techically an option but she said she wanted to induce me because it might take awhile and I was already a mess. I can't imagine what i would be like if I had to wait.
