Maca Root for fertility
I've heard that maca root helps with sex drive and fertility. Has anyone tried this and if so what brand and how much? I've been TTC for over a year and am open to any help.

Thank you!!!

Re: Maca Root for fertility
I took maca root for awhile, but it made me feel kind of weird when I took it, so I stopped. But the first cycle taking it I ended up ovulating the earliest I ever have(CD 11). Still not sure if that was really because of the maca root and not something else. But I do have diagnosed low progesterone issues and maca root is supposed to help to balance out hormones naturally. I didn't personally get any extra energy from it. Really I think it all depends on the person, everyone seems to have a different reaction to it depending on what their body needs. I bought the organic powdered form off of amazon. I think the brand was healthy u or something like that..

Re: Maca Root for fertility
I took it for the first time last cycle and had the best EWCM I ever had. I also ovulated earlier than I ever had (CD15) and had a shorter cycle than usual. I couldn't believe the EWCM I got with it. Anyways, I also used the cbfm too and got highs and peaks the first month. We are hoping for our Blessing!

Re: Maca Root for fertility

Like I said before, I only took maca for the first part of my cycle. This cycle was 25 days instead of the regular 31ish. One of my shortest since July '07. I wasn't temping (will be now) so I don't really know when I O'd, so I cannot tell if maca messed with my LP or not (I don't think it did). Anyways, first cycle with maca, not pg yet, How much Maca you take: 2 tbsp/day - so far, I think mixing it in coffee is the best. How has it changed your cycle so far? This is my first cycle taking it, and I didn't take it when I went away for a week, so between maca, being off my usual routine for the past six weeks, etc, I have no idea. I'm late to O this cycle - CD 20 or 21 and I don't think I've Oed yet, but I might soon. I blame that on travel. I hate the way maca tastes. At the store, the guy was like "This stuff is amazing, tastes delicious!" well, no, it really doesn't to me. Chocolate syrup, coffee, and milk make it somewhat bearable. Kind of. I think it has increased my libido, and that effect was pretty much immediate, within a couple of days of taking it, still have hope!!
I upped my daily dosage to 2100MG, and I'm going to go up to 2600-3100/day this week since it's normally when I would O. No symptoms/side effects to note so far.

Do I stop taking maca after O, or continue right up to the BFP? <---trying to think positively!

Re: Maca Root for fertility
I started taking Maca Root 8 days ago. I have very irregular menses and so far it seems to be helping. The only bad thing is I got a few pimples on my shoulders, but I attribute that more to hormonal acne. I started a blog about it today and am going to document my trials with it, your welcome to view it though I just started it today and there is only one post so far but it tells about me and how much I'm taking and etc. It's macarootandpregnancy.blogspot. com

Re: Maca Root for fertility
I ordered Maca supplemets and took them for a good 2 weeks prior to my baseline ultrasound. I also take DHEA, Royal Jelly, Spirulina, Red Clover and drink Fertilitea. I really have yet to see any difference in my DOR, but I've read and been told that it takes a good 3 months before any supplements have an affect on fertility.

Who wants to wait 3 months though?!
