I read a post about your husband working at Starbucks and was wondering how well the insurance coverage for IVF was? I was wondering if it covered meds only or the actual procedure. My husband and I are ready to do IVF for the second time. We did our first one in 2010 but then both lost our jobs so we had to wait to try it again. I am hoping to find a job that has some coverage. I appreciate any info you can provide!!

Re: Lash
They won't pay for anything pertaining to the actual procedure but do have better coverage for meds than most companies do. You can work there part time to get the coverage as well and it kicks in after 3 months

Re: Lash
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate it. When we did IVF in 2010 it was about $25,000. Our insurance at the time paid for meds, but not the procedure, which with the help of my parents we paid out of pocket. It was very expensive because we had to send the embryos to Genesis Genetics, where they made a specific scope for us to get the embryos checked. We are both carriers of CF, therefore we have a 1 in 4 chance of having a child with CF. We did not get to do the actual transfer because of the 4 embryos 3 had CF and 1 was a carrier. The carrier embryo did not make it to the stage the doctor wanted. We actually got pregnant on our own 2 times. The first time I was 6 weeks and had a miscarriage. The second time I had an amniocentesis done and the baby was a carrier of CF......we were so excited!!!! We went in for a regular check-up when I was 26 weeks and they had a hard time finding the heart beat, so they sent me to the ultrasound dept . I was then referred to a specialist where I had a fetal echo-cardiogram done. It was confirmed that our son had hypo plastic left heart syndrome. We lost him a week later.
