First Clomid Cycle - Any Tips to Boost Fertility?
Good morning,

I'll be starting my first cycle of Clomid next week. I can only do three months and no specialist if it doesn't work as the insurance will not cover it. I want to make the next 3 months count for as much as I can because I feel like it might be my last chance to conceive. Does anyone have any fertility tips to help me optimize the next few months?

I've read so much and am thinking of trying a few things I read. Looking into using Pressed and/or Evening Primrose Oil. Also thinking of trying the Instead Softcups and drinking the raspberry leaf tea.

Anyone heard of anything else I might try just to boost our chances? I know that not everything works the same for every woman, but having more information is always a good thing in my book.

I know that it will either happen or not, depending on the Lord's plan, but it would make me feel better to know that I've done everything I can, within reason, to boost our chances of conceiving.

Any advice, support and prayer would be very much appreciated.

Thank you!

Are you already taking Prenatals or Folic Acid? Most things that are available usually take a few months to build up in our bodies. That is one reason why I end up not taking more vitamins, herbs and supplements. Are you going temping or planning too? I've learned so much about my body while temping.

Best of luck with your Clomid cycle. FX'd it works for you!!

I am currently taking prenatals, and have been for as long as we've been trying. So we are good there. I do the ovulation tests but am just starting the temping. I keep hearing different things on how often to actually try. Which is better, every other day or every day? It is so confusing when there are so many conflicting tips!

If your DH has no issue with BDing I would everyday. We call that Marathon BDing. :)

My advice, try and avoid telling everything about your cycle. Some men start experiencing performance anxiety. Nothing more frustrating when your DH can't finish. I've had this more times than I can count. When I'm in my fertile window I just tell DH I'm horny..TMI but that is all it usually takes.

P.S. Make it as fun as you can!

agree with renee...make it fun. we do it throughout the month but i always make sure we do it a litttle more often during o time, lol. also, my sam was a clomid baby...i noticed i ovulated later with it around days seventeen to nineteen...so dont rule out those days either until you have a better idea in general when you ovulate. also, my keyboard is messed up so no quotes, capitals, exclamation points or new paragraphs from me...i hate this, lol. good luck

We marathon bd'd. We went a little overboard - but PP said it right, don't tell DH what's up necessarily. Once you get an idea when you are Oing, start the marathon. We Bd'd 1x 3 days before O, 2x 2days before O 2x the day before O and the once morning of O. It worked several times. Good Luck!

Re: First Clomid Cycle - Any Tips to Boost Fertility?
Thank you again, ladies. It does seem like we are just focused on "baby making" right now. My cycle is so screwed up its kind of the only time we really do anything. I have my period for about 2 weeks a month. I start with spotting for 7 days, then have a real period with some extremely heavy bleeding for a few days, then a few more days of spotting. Its extremely stressful, basically having some kind of period for 2 weeks a month. Sorry if that is TMI. I appreciate that I can mention these things to other ladies who understand. DH doesn't get it and no one in my life is dealing with or has dealt with these kind of issues. I've noticed that I tend to ovulate on Day 11 if I count my period as starting on the first day of a "real period" and ignore the spotting days. Does that seem too soon? My doc wants me to start the Clomid on the 3rd day after that and take it for 5 days. It seems to me that if I do that I will ovulate very close to the end of my period. Do any of you think that this will affect our outcome? Its so hard to keep track when my periods are so unusual. And I've been hearing of false positives on OPK with Clomid if you start testing too soon after you've taken it. But it seems to be me that if my cycle continues as it has been, then I will miss my window if I wait to test. Goodness, my head can start to spin sometimes when I really try to figure all this stuff out.

Re: First Clomid Cycle - Any Tips to Boost Fertility?
I would suggest getting a lot of IC OPI's so you can blow through as many as you think you'll need. Maybe even start BDing every other day from start of your cycle to end of your fertile window.

CD 11 doesn't sound all that early. I have ovulated CD11-CD16 with an average of CD13. Do you know how long your LP is?

Feel free to join us and ask any questions you might have. Most of us don't usually talk about about our cycles outside of JM.
