The Five Best and Worst Cities for Families Revealed

By JustMommies

Forbes.com has released another interesting list -- this time it is about which cities are the best for families financially, as well as the worst in terms of affordability.

Among the biggest of surprises was San Francisco. Forbes reports that even though the cost of living is high, equally high wages make up for it and the average budget turns out to be just 68% of a family's total income.

That is reportedly not the case in Cleveland. Residents spend much less on housing and other costs there, but, according to Forbes, the median income is also much lower, so costs of living eat up about 85% of a family budget.

The Top 5 Family Friendly Cities:

1. San Jose, California

2. Salt Lake City, Utah

3. Baltimore, Maryland

4. Detroit, Michigan

5. San Francisco, California

The 5 Worst Cities for Families:

1. Virginia Beach, Virginia

2. Providence, Rhode Island

3. Las Vegas, Nevada

4. San Diego, California

5. Cleveland, Ohio
